Welcome to my corner of the world!

Here's where you'll find pictures of my family, quilts and flowers, or whatever else I happen to take a picture of!

Flowers! I just realized today that I hadn't posted any pictures of the flowers this year. The top picture is of a flower we found at a little fleamarket that has added a greenhouse. It didn't have a label telling anything about it, but we loved it, and it was less than $5, so we bought it! Then, there is the swan. These impatiens have done beautifully in the swans this year. I have more impatiens, they are one of my favorite summer flowers.
My niece and nephew are doing great with Grandma and Papa. We still don't know what is going to happen, but for now, they are doing just fine where they are at.

Springtime friends... When hubby went out to start the grill yesterday, he saw this little guy in our dog's pen. The fence is 6' high, so we don't know if he was just resting or what, but when hubby came in and told me about him, I grabbed the camera and took these shots. Then, when he went back out there, the little guy was gone. Guess he was just resting. I showed both pictures so you could see how small he is by comparing him to the leaves in the first picture. The grass really needs cut in the pen, but made for a pretty picture of this little guy, I thought!

FINALLY!!! A picture of Caleb on his quilt! I've also posted a picture of him laying on the crocheted bedspread I had bought at an auction a while back. He loved the texture of this thing and kept putting his little fingers in the holes and examining it! He's getting cuter and cuter every time I see him! His little personality makes him even cuter. He's got a very quick smile and smiles at almost anyone who talks to him. We had a great visit and I'm already looking forward to the next visit!
I signed up for a "Quilt as you Piece" class. It will be held the end of June and I'm really looking forward to it. I really like the comraderie that classes offer. My friend and I are taking it together, and are really looking forward to meeting new quilting friends! I'll keep you updated on how it goes!
UPDATE: Talked to my dad yesterday and he had taken my niece to her family dr. who was appalled that a dr(at the county mental health clinic) had put her on antidepressants(not sleeping pills as I had thought at first). She took her off of them and Dad says she is doing fine without them. I am so relieved that they got her off of them. Thanks for your concerns and I'll keep you posted.

This is it! This is the picture that my grandson "made" for me for Mothers Day. Actually, I think the babysitter did the work, but those are his foot and hand prints making the flower leaves and petals. I told you my daughter had a great babysitter. My only regret is that my laminator won't accomodate something this big. I'm going to get a frame and frame it, just keep forgetting when I'm at the store. I just loved this.

I am pretty excited that they are going to be here today. Was actually having a very pleasant dream about it when something woke me and when I rolled over to look at my clock, I was immediately WIDE awake when my bedroom window looked red.....my first thought was "My car is on fire" because that is what sits just outside that window, but then I thought, "HOW".....jumped up and that woke hubby and he asks what's going on, but we can see nothing from in there. Came into the Living Room and there is an ambulance sitting in front of our neighbors house. He saw the neighbor lady standing on the porch and the guy come from the back of the house, so we have no idea who was in the ambulance. But it looked like they were working on some one as it pulled away(no sirens). We don't know these neighbors very well. They just moved in last summer and are not very "neighborly".....I think he's 30 something and she's younger than my 20 y/0 son. Not that I'm predjudiced about age, it's just that we probably have nothing in common with them, and while he will say hi if he sees us in the yard, she usually doesn't even go that far. So we will probably never know what happened. I just know that it woke me up at 2:30 and I laid back down for 45 minutes and could not go back to sleep. I may regret it later, but why lay there and be miserable........anyway, mysteries!

And here is a picture of the backing I made for my Orange Peel Quilt. I took it to my friend, the quilter, yesterday, along with the spool of orange/brown variegated thread I bought to quilt it with. I kind of like the chunky pieced backing! I used almost every last scrap I had of the oranges I had used in the front. Now my dilema may be what to bind it with. I think the only piece I have much left of is that really light peachy colored hand dyed looking stuff...I'm not sure it's the best choice for binding, though, unless I decide to sew the binding down by machine. That fabric is a little stiff and I'm not sure it'll be easy to hand stitch. Oh well, this is MY quilt, and staying here, so a machine stitched binding will be ok. I actually used the 3 step zig zag stitch to sew the binding down on Caleb's quilt, and I liked the way that turned out. I'll try to be sure and get a close up of that when I take his picture laying on the quilt later on today.

Some one asked about my niece and nephew. Thier mother went for her scheduled visit last Saturday and spent a whopping 40 minutes with them, crying the whole time(which the judge had warned her NOT to do). I'm afraid(hoping?) she's digging her own grave as far as custody is concerned. I just hope my brother is telling the truth about being clean and sober and they find in his favor. My parents don't need the hassle of raising 2 little kids at their age, but I know if that is the only choice, they will be there.

First Love! Can we say AWWW? This is an older picture of Caleb, but one I only recently got to see. It was in a little booklet that his babysitter made for my daughter for Mothers Day. As soon as I get it uploaded, I'll show you a picture of what they made for me. She has such a great babysitter! Anyway, they say that any time they lay these 2 little sweeties close to one another, they find each others hands! Is that not precious?
I did get a lot of sewing done last weekend, but no photos as of yet. I finished the backing for the orange peel, I did a backing for a Turning 20 I did months and months ago, I put a border on the strip twist, and I finished putting Harvest Spice together. OH! and I FINALLY Finished the quilting AND binding on Caleb's quilt.....not bad I guess, since he's only 4 1/2 months old..lol...Good thing I made it big so he can use it next winter! I will get a picture of him on it this weekend as he and his mama are coming to visit tomorrow!!
Well, I need to go clean out the sewing room so daughter has a place to sleep! Her hubby has to work 10 hours tomorrow, so isn't able to come with them, so the twin bed in the sewing room, aka known as my storage space, will be where she sleeps!
