A finish!! Here is "Orange Peel" I made in the Red Onion class at the retreat in Memphis last year and finally finished the binding last week. I'm really going to miss being able to go to Memphis this year, but my new job came with sacrifices and this is one of the major ones.** Sniff sniff.... Anyway, this is the finished project, all washed and looking great, if I do say so myself. The quilting was done by my friend who does Jane's quilting. I showed a close up of a corner to show the border fabrics. This quilt brought out a love for orange in me for some reason. I still don't know what made me choose orange, but the I love the result. I'm also showing you how I did the backing. I just took huge "chunks" of the leftover fabrics and sewed them together randomly. I think it makes for a neat backing, as well.

I loved this pattern and have another top made that as soon as I get it quilted, I'll show it. It's done in browns and greens and will be a bday gift for my son.

He stands!!! He'll be walking before we know it! They came for a visit last weekend and the little turkey wanted GRANDPA or MOMMY..... If anyone else held him and one of them walked by, he had to go to them. I'm not jealous....YEAH RIGHT....haha. Oh well. At least Grandpa was thrilled and I'm happy for him. We had a great visit. Mark's sister and nephew were in town, so mother in law had a great time. Really perked her up. I went by her house one day this week and I can't tell you how many times she made the comment about how much fun she had last Saturday. We were going to go out and buy pizza or subs to bring back to her house, but decided to take the whole gang out to dinner instead. I think she REALLY enjoyed that part! Was a refreshing change for her.
On the quilting front, I have cut into the batiks and am working on sewing 1024 half square triangles. Sewing them in groups of 8. I have 128 groups printed out to sew. Think I've sewn 15-20 so far, so a LONG way to go! But they go pretty fast, so hoping to make a big dent in the pile today. Then there will be the trimming and removing the paper. Have long lunches next week, so will try to get the trimming done and spend my lunch time removing papers! I've got my design drawn up in EQ. It's one I did years ago, and wanted to do again. But, unlike Jane, I'm not giving any sneak previews. I'll wait and show the top when it's done! OH, in the meantime, I did finally finish the binding on the Orange Peel! Have another quilt that all it needs is a binding. May work on that between hst's, just to break the monotony. Hope you all have a great day!

Lookie lookie! Janie's not the only one who got new fabrics! I went a little nutsier than Jane. She showed me the fabrics on ebay and I became obsessed! I ended up with like 43 or so yards of beautiful batiks....oh wait, I think more than that! But, I was in need of a pick me up, I guess and decided to splurge on fabric! THEN, I went to Walmart the other day and I always check out thier remnant bin and found yet another very pretty piece of batik, so of course that had to come home with me, too! And yes, I do have a project in mind!! I'll show that later. Granted, it won't take anywhere near all of this, but....a gal can never have to much fabric!!Now, for the show and tell part.

These light ones came in a pack of 12 1 yard pieces. They each have the word sample printed on them in what looks to be a yellow paint pen, but it's not really that big, so not that big a loss of piece of fabric.

Then there were these. I don't think the pictures do them justice. I was so thrilled with both sets.

And this is the piece I got at Walmart:

I am just tickled pink with my purchases! Can't wait to show the finished project I have in mind to start soon. The quilting bug has come back with a vengence and I'm ready to start sewing! Have actually been working on a hand quilting project at work the last week! Have to take pictures of that and show the progress I've made on it. Hope everyone is having a great quilting fall!
