Special find....
Today, hubby called me to tell me he'd be a little late getting home. He'd decided to start going thru some things in his mom's garage(she fell last year and is now in a nursing home). Imagine his surprise when he found these 2 jewells stuffed in a box in the rafters of her garage. It is not an enclosed garage, it's a metal building with 3 walls and one open end. Needless to say, being married to a quilter, he knew these deserved better treatment than that and brought them home. They appear to be identical, but there really are 2 of them. The one above, and the one below.
Sad to say, but I'm sure his mom never thought to offer them to me because she would have viewed them as "junk" and not worth anything.(otherwise, why would they be in the garage?). We think they were made by her grandmother who was born in the mid 1880's.

While I was photographing the quilts, I decided to take a couple of pictures of another couple of gems from his ancestors. The tables you see below were made by hubby's great grandfather. Aren't they beautiful? As you can see, Caleb's picture ranks really high to be allowed to sit on this table!

WOW, grandpa sure is talented in woodworking. What a nice family heirloom to pass on to the kids. The quilts look like they possibly were for twin beds in the same room? What a treasure! Sure wish I had a storage room to go through. I have very little things from my grandparents. Lucky you!
